RSPB: Reserves (3rd Party Data)
This is a GIS dataset containing the spatial boundaries of Royal Society for the Protection of Birds reserves across the UK. This is an external third party dataset owned by RSPB and licensed to NRW for internal use only. The RSPB Reserve Boundaries dataset contains the boundaries of all land managed, leased or owned as part of RSPB reserves. Areas for which other rights are held or which are not classed as RSPB reserves are excluded (for exceptions please see individual site records). Some reserves are only represented by an indicative boundary due to confidentiality issues surrounding the definitive boundary.

The dataset has been supplied by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and contains Land holdings (leased and owned) of the RSPB. The boundaries have been digitised directly onto the Vector Map Local (VML) OS base map, or equivalent, from paper maps accompanying the legal deeds for each site and checked and approved by the RSPB Land Agency. Original copies of all the maps of owned, leased and managed land can be found within the deed files held by the RSPB Land Agency department. The following information is provided for each reserve boundary: Feature_Id - the unique reference number used as a code for the site Name - the name of the site Dataset - the type of site the boundary comprises (i.e. an RSPB reserve) StartDate - the date the site was either acquired or amended to its current extent. N.B. British or UK data use the British National Grid coordinate system but Northern Irish data use the TM65 Irish Grid coordinate system.
