Between June and August 2013 Longdin and Browning carried out beach profile measurements in the Carmarthen Bay area from Freshwater West to Rhossili. Profile lines were observed using RTK GPS along pre-defined bearings as supplied by Shoreline Management to a target depth of -2.6 Ordnance Datum. Each profile line was originally identified on site by a survey marker, comprising either a feno marker in the dunes or road nail on hardstanding. Where possible areas that required gridding were surveyed using RTK GPS mounted on a 4x4 vehicle, and on foot in areas not suitable for vehicles such as mud, soft sand and water.
