The Green Coast Award recognises those beaches that are 'hidden gems' - the beautiful, untouched, rugged beaches that line so much of the Welsh coast. The award recognises the excellent water quality and unspoiled environment, but unlike a Blue Flag Award beach, these sites won't have the infrastructure and intensive management generally associated with more traditional seaside resorts. The Green Coast Award is important in recognising all of Wales' top beach destinations, with our small (but mighty!) country boasting 19 Green Coast Awards during 2018.
