Aerial Photography Great Britain (APGB): Welsh Digital Aerial Photography and DSM/DTM models supplied by GetMapping and Bluesky International Limited (3rd Party Data)
GetMapping and Bluesky International supplied NRW this data under licence for the following years; 2000, 2009, 2013-14, 2013-17, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2025.
In 2006 the Aerial Images were produced by Cowi (see metadata number 121879).
Aerial Photography Great Britain (APGB) is a raster dataset containing aerial imagery produced by Getmapping and Bluesky International. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has access to the Welsh extent of this dataset as a member of the APGB. The licencing conditions mean that NRW can only use this data for internal use.
APGB comprises aerial photography and height data (2m DSM, 5m DTM, 5m contours), for government. The data itself is captured, processed and delivered by Bluesky International Ltd and Getmapping Plc, two of the premier aerial survey companies in the UK, on a rolling three year update programme. This date is available as a service as well as holding the actual data.

- 1x1km tiles for mono 2D data derivation
- 12.5cm & 25cm resolution
2. Colour Infrared Aerial Photo (CIR) An APGB product comprising:
- Colour infra-red imagery
- Orthorecitified
- 50cm resolution
- GeoTIFF format.
3. Air photo Index - detailing the location of species aerial imagery taken for each year.
NRW also has access to height data as follows:
1) 5m Digital Terrain Model (DTM)
- Provides ground model representation or 'bald earth' model
- Product derived from the aerial photography.
2) 2m Digital Surface Model (DSM)
- A model representation of ground including building and vegetation heights
- Derived from the aerial photography product.
