UK CEH Stream Power (3rd Party data)
Stream power is a measure of river energy based on specific stream power (W/m2). Rivers with higher energy have a greater capacity to 'self-heal' and can be restored using passive restoration techniques. In contrast, lower energy rivers require more costly interventionist restoration approaches such as remeandering. Through understanding the energy regime of the river we can design restoration to minimize the work needed and maximize the length of river improved by working with and enhancing the natural processes of the river.

River channels were split up into individual points for every 50 m point. At each point the stream power was derived from the Slope layer and discharge at QMED. The river locations were derived from 1:50,000 UK CEH digital river network.
Within the dataset SP is stream power also called total stream power (TSP) and SSP is specific stream power which is the total stream power divided by river wetted width, ie SP per meter of transect. SSP allows comparing rivers of different sizes.
