The format of the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS)/Inshore Vessel Monitoring System (iVMS) data 2022-2025 is in four excel spreadsheets. The data was collected by Welsh Government for monitoring control and surveillance purposes. It provides data on the position of fishing vessels in Wales when at sea.
The data includes: anonymised Vessel IDs, trip IDs, trip start date and time, trip end data and time, departure port, arrival port, vessel nationality, vessel length category, engine power in KW, event occurrence date and time, latitude, longitude, ICES sub-rectangle, speed, course, activity, zone and gear.
