Priority Species and Species of Local Conservation Concern for the Dyfi Biosphere Catchment Area (3rd Party Data)
The Dyfi Biosphere is the only Biosphere Reserve in Wales and includes the Dyfi Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Cors Fochno SSSI. This dataset is a collation of species records. Just under 5000 species records within the Dyfi catchment. Species include all UK Species of Conservation Concern, Red Data Book and Nationally Scarce species, Amber List Birds and other locally important species. Also recorded is UK and EU legally protected species, Section 74 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CRoW) species, UK Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) Priority Species and Red List Birds. The data was collated on behalf of Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) to contribute to the Dyfi Biosphere project. Biosphere Reserves are nominated by national governments and designated under the Man and the Biosphere Programme of UNESCO.

Data collated from a wide variety of sources by Powys and Brecon Beacons Local Record Centre (BIS) on behalf of Countryside Council for Wales (CCW). The dataset is a collation of species records collected between 1934 and 2006 for Priority Species and between 1957 and 2006 for Species of Local Conservation Concern. These have been collated from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to: Countryside Council for Wales (CCW), British Lichen Society, Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, Montgomeryshire Field Society, British Bryological Society and Montgomeryshire Barn Owl Group. Due to the nature of the species collation, part of this dataset is sensitive and restricted.

This dataset is wholly owned by Biodiversity Information Service (BIS). Enquirers are advised to obtain a copy from the owner/originator directly, rather than NRW. NRW may NOT publish or disseminate it in its entirety. Part of this dataset is sensitive and restricted as contains data exempt from general release under EIR. Sensitive data must be kept confidential; general release is not permitted due to risk of harm to the environment or third parties. The sensitive data is as follows a) sensitive feature information, b) Personal data that may only be released with permission of the individuals via the local record centre (BIS). Data may be released freely if the sensitive records are removed in advance, or shown only at a coarser scale. Requests should be referred to NRW's Access to Information Officer.
