Arolwg Coetiroedd Cymru Cam 2
Prif nod y prosiect oedd cwblhau disgrifiadau o gymunedau coetir o bob Safle o Ddiddordeb Gwyddonol Arbennig (SoDdGA) yng Nghymru sydd â choetir lled-naturiol fel nodwedd gymhwysol. Roedd hefyd angen rhai arolygon o goetiroedd ar SoDdGAau lle nad coetir yw’r unig nodwedd gymhwysol, ynghyd â rhai ardaloedd o goetiroedd nad ydynt ar SoDdGA (yn bennaf SoDdGA arfaethedig ac ardaloedd o goetir ger SoDdGAau).
Mae’r set ddata hon yn cynnwys data manwl o arolygon Cam 2 o dros 800 o goetiroedd o ddiddordeb cadwraeth yng Nghymru, yn bennaf coetiroedd ar SoDdGAau a SoDdGAau arfaethedig. Pwrpas casglu’r data oedd gwella’r wybodaeth gyffredinol am gymunedau coetiroedd Cymru, darparu disgrifiadau cyson o gymunedau ar draws y gyfres o SoDdGAau coetir fel gwybodaeth sylfaenol ar gyfer cynnal safleoedd, ac asesu statws safleoedd newydd o ran bod yn SoDdGAau. Mae arolygon coetir Cam 2 wedi cael eu cynnal o bryd i’w gilydd ers diwedd yr 1980au ond cafwyd cyfnod dwys o arolygon ar goetiroedd ar SoDdGAau a SoDdGAau arfaethedig rhwng 1995 a 2000. Cafodd data ei gasglu gan bersonél hyfforddedig, ei ddigideiddio gan gontractwyr, ei ddilysu gan Grŵp Rheoli Gwybodaeth Cyngor Cefn Gwlad Cymru, ei gywiro gan gontractwyr, ei ddilysu eto gan Grŵp Rheoli Gwybodaeth Cyngor Cefn Gwlad Cymru, a’i gywiro’n fewnol ar y cyd ag Ecolegydd Coetiroedd.
Defnyddiwyd y fethodoleg safonol ar gyfer arolygon coetir y Dosbarthiad Llystyfiant Cenedlaethol (NVC) er mwyn casglu’r data hwn. Adnabuwyd cymunedau coetir â’r llygad yna’u mapio, a hynny wedi’i ategu gan gwadradau sampl a nodiadau targed. Mae’r set ddata yn gasgliad o arolygon NVC a gomisiynwyd gan Gyngor Cefn Gwlad Cymru.

Standard woodland NVC survey methodology was used to collect this data. Woodland communities were identified by eye and mapped, supported by sample quadrats and target notes. Dataset is a collation of CCW commissioned NVC surveys.
This dataset was also digitised and made available through Recorder 6. It is one of a series of major Phase 2 habitat surveys, including in-house and commissioned surveys covering lowland grassland, saltmarsh, lowland peatland and lowland heathland.
