Skomer Marine Conservation Zone ( MCZ ) - Sediment infauna community data
In 2015 Skomer Marine Nature Reserve changed designation to Skomer Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ). Skomer Marine Nature Reserve (MNR) was designated in 1990. Species abundance data from grab samples within Skomer MNR from 1993 onwards. Complimented by sediment grain size analysis and various oil content measures. The purpose of this data capture was to monitor the sediment infauna community within Skomer Marine Nature Reserve.

Sediment samples were taken consisting of: 10 sites - 2 replicates using a 0.1m2 day grab sieved with a 0.5mm sieve. 3rd grab taken for sediment analysis. Ongoing sampling every 4/5 years. The 1993, 1996 and 1998 data contributed to the Pembrokeshire Marine Species Atlas, see separate metadata entry. Additional sampling in 1996 due to Sea Empress oil spill.
