Assessments of the species composition, distribution, abundance, and size structure of these species within these river systems are of particular importance for condition assessment. The data were collected to support the assessment of the conservation status of lampreys within the Tywi, Teifi, and Cleddau SACs. Monitoring the status of lamprey populations is required to comply with the reporting requirements of the Habitats Directive. A total of 112 sampling sites across the River Tywi, River Teifi, and the Eastern and Western Cleddau were surveyed, of which 77 contained positive records for either river lamprey or brook lamprey.
