Skomer Marine Conservation Zone ( MCZ ) - Sea Temperature Recording
In 2015 Skomer Marine Nature Reserve changed designation to Skomer Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ). Skomer Marine Nature Reserve (MNR) was designated in 1990. Monitoring of the seabed and temperature at Skomer MNR. The purpose of this data capture was to: Provide accurate seawater temperature records for the seabed and the water column. Record temperature as continuously as possible. Produce an ongoing long-term data set for the site.

Sea temperature is recorded at seabed (19mbcd) 15m 10m 5m and 1m from the surface. Drop down probes and temperature loggers are used. The Skomer MNR data set runs from July 1992 and is ongoing. Intertidal temperatures have been recorded since Feb 2007. Equipment used Valeport series 600 MKII CTD probe Vemco minilog - seabed logger and Onset 'hobo' pendant loggers. The intertidal seabed data is downloaded every 6 months. Profile data is taken weekly in season (Apr - Oct). Intertidal data is downloaded every 3 months.
