Saltmarsh Features of the Braint Estuary 1996
This dataset consists of the results of a National Vegetation Classification as a basis for community definition in the saltmarsh habitats of the Braint Estuary. The purpose of this data capture was to use the National Vegetation Classification to describe and map areas of saltmarsh on the Braint Estuary- put forward as a pSAC as part of the Glannau Mon: Cors Heli/ Anglesey Coast saltmarsh.

Standard National Vegetation Classification (NVC) survey methodology was used to collect this data. Saltmarsh communities were identified by eye based on paced, compass orientated transects and mapped against a NCC commissioned basemap produced by the University of Glasgow. The saltmarsh community identification was supported by sample quadrats. Data collected by trained personnel, digitised by contractors, validated by CCW KMG, corrections made by contractors, validated again by CCW KMG, corrections made in-house in conjunction with relevant saltmarsh specialist. CCW commissioned survey which contributes to an NVC Saltmarsh survey collation (see 'part of' field).
