Saltmarsh Features of the Severn Estuary 1998
Use of the National Vegetation Classification (NVC) as a basis for community definition in the saltmarsh habitats of the Severn Estuary. The purpose of this data capture was to provide a detailed NVC description of Severn Estuary saltmarsh and an account of distribution and NVC associations of several nationally scarce and one locally scarce species. The survey also provided a preliminary conservation assessment for the Severn Estuary potential Special Area of Conservation (pSAC) and line transects as baseline data for future remote sensing studies.

Standard NVC survey methodology. Data collected by trained personnel, digitised by contractors, validated by NRW, corrections made by contractors, validated again by NRW, corrections made in-house in conjunction with relevant salt marsh specialist. NRW commissioned survey which contributes to an NVC Saltmarsh survey collation (see 'part of' field).
