Upland Vegetation Survey of Mynydd Llangatwg and Mynydd Llangyndir
This dataset comprised of the results from a survey of an upland site in and adjacent to the Brecon Beacons National Park, carried out during May 2002 by the Central Environmental Surveys on behalf of the former Countryside Council for Wales. Within the report the survey is divided into two sites. One site includes the area within the boundary of Mynydd Llangatwg Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The other site includes land to the south-west of the Mynydd Llangatwg SSSI.

The sites were visited on a daily basis by a team of four surveyors. Covering a selected area each surveyor visited all the distinguishable vegetation stand within the target area. The aim was to determine the community type, the boundaries with other vegetation and a number of terrain, edaphic and physiognomic parameters, the precise data required usually being dependent on the type of vegetation covered. Terrain features that has to be determined included altitude, slope and aspect of quadrat locations and target notes. Assignment to plant community during the vegetation surveys was based on the National Vegetation Classification (NVC) standard. This raw data then went through a preparation process and were transposed into digital spatial layers.
