Sea Fishing Atlas of Wales
WARNING: This data is outdated due to changes in fishery management and is not recommended for re-use. It could be misleading. An atlas of sea fishing activities around the coast of Wales. The atlas includes sections on fishing activities, regulations and competent authorities (see 'contains' field for metadata entries for the three different sections). The purpose of this data capture was to outline general fishing patterns, regulations and competent authorities around Wales in order to present a general picture of fishing activity which has previously not been publicly available.

They have been prepared primarily on the basis of anecdotal comments received from a variety of regulators and individual fishermen, supplemented by information contained in published reports. It is important to note that they are purely indicative in nature and give a general indication of where fishing activity is thought to have occurred over the period 2000 to 2005, although no indication is made regarding the frequency of activity or the general level of effort deployed. While some of the maps are more detailed than others, specifics relating to individual operators are only shown for Several Order sites. A general description is provided alongside each activity map. For further explanation of some technical specifications, both in relation to sea fisheries and marine nature conservation, refer to a separate CCW publication. The maps produced are purely indicative in nature and give a general indication of where fishing activity is thought to have occurred although no indication is made regarding the frequency of activity or the general level of effort deployed.
