Monitoring and Surveillance of National Nature Reserves (NNRs) in Wales
National Nature Reserves (NNRs) contain examples of some of the most important natural and semi-natural terrestrial and coastal ecosystems in Great Britain. They are managed to conserve their habitats or to provide special opportunities for scientific study of the habitats communities and species represented within them. In addition they may be managed to provide public recreation that is compatible with their natural heritage interests. NNRs are declared by the statutory country conservation agencies under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. This dataset contains the monitoring and surveillance of work carried out on National Nature Reserves (NNRs) in areas such as water quality, water level, water chemistry, evapotranspiration, water chemistry, meteorology, soil temperature, atmospheric chemistry, habitats and species. Examples of particular site monitoring include the Coppicing Surveillance at Coedydd Aber or surveillance of vegetation changes following the removal of grazing from Cwm Idwal (see 'contains' field for more information).
