Aspects of the vegetation, vertebrates and invertebrates at the site are monitored following ECN protocols. As well as the ECN monitoring protocols, other data collected purely for Natural Resources Wales (NRW) use and include data on the arctic alpine flora and fungi. Phenological information is also collected (information on the timing if things e.g. tadpole hatching). The purpose of this data capture is to collect data on the biodiversity of the site and how it changes over time in order to indicate the possible causes and consequences of environmental change in the terrestrial environment. The common frog is also monitored by monitoring spawn development and pond environment.
