Site Actions held in the Integrated Sites Information System (ISIS) Database
The Integrated Sites Information System (ISIS) Database contains the actions that need to be carried out on sites to achieve appropriate conservation management The purpose of this data capture was to document and share information on who needs to do what, where, in order to get special sites into favourable condition. There are numerous management units involved (7,000 plus), there are many organisations whose work needs to be coordinated, and there are many different types of issues and actions needed. In practice a database is the most efficient way of collection and organising this information. The Actions Database project was initiated in May 2008. Data entry began in November 2008 and is ongoing.

Sites have been divided up into management units based on practical boundaries visible on the ground, often based on ownership boundaries. For each unit, number, name, lead officer, special features, issues, actions needed etc are recorded in the database. Prioritised Improvement Plans (PIPs) are produced and updated from information held in the database. These are prioritised, costed action plans for each Natura 2000 site in Wales that are used to help maintain or improve the condition of the designated habitat and species features of the site.

Parts of this dataset are sensitive and restricted. Access to this data may be restricted under relevant legislation. Access to the dataset is available to approved members of NRW staff and to users of the extranet under NRW licence. Levels of access is dependent on the type of stakeholder e.g. organisations with many actions will be granted full extranet access under licence, whilst other interested individuals will be able to access shared maps and unit reports with permission of relevant landowner.
