A population survey of Gwyniad was recommended following unsuccessful attempts to establish a refuge population in 2003. The project adapted a generic protocol for assessing whitefish (Coregonus albula and Coregonus lavaretus) populations, developed by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), for use with the Gwyniad population of Llyn Tegid. The survey was undertaken in July 2003 and included measurements of oxygen and temperature profiles, as well as Secchi depth readings. The protocol involved hydroacoustic surveying and limited gill netting. This dataset contains the results of the gill netting survey only.
