Across Wales Lagoon Monitoring - Carew Mill Pond (2012)
This dataset is a collation of data from subtidal benthic soft sediment sampling carried out within Carew Mill Pond lagoon, which is a feature of the Pembrokeshire Marine Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The data is unpublished. The purpose of this data capture is to aid in the monitoring and condition assessment of this Annex I feature.

Abundance of benthic invertebrates (per 0.0044m2 core) and granulometry data were captured as part of this project. Supporting determinants are: National Grid References recorded using hand held GPS and salinity and temperature which are continuously recorded using a data logger. All samples are collected using a corer (0.0044m2). Benthic invertebrate samples are sieved over a 0.5 mm mesh. At 3 stations 5 replicate infaunal grab samples are taken as well as 3 granulometry samples from each station.
Time series monitoring of the site began in 2012 however previous site visits occurred in April 2007, August 2007, November 2007, August 2008, May 2009, March 2010 and March 2011.
Benthic invertebrate samples are processed by laboratories that are members of the National Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control (NMBAQC) scheme and random samples from each survey are also selected for audit by Unicomarine.
