FishMap Môn Habitat Sensitivity Confidence
FishMap Môn is a collaborative project between Natural Resources Wales (NRW), the Welsh Government, and the recreational and commercial fisheries sectors. Project Partners include The North Wales Fisherman's Cooperative Limited, Bangor Mussel Producers Limited and The Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers.
The project sets out to inform the sustainable management of the Welsh marine environment by collecting and mapping fishing activity and subsequently combining this with information on seabed habitats and their sensitivity to such activities.
Habitat Sensitivity Confidence represents the confidence NRW has had in the expert judgement of the Habitat Sensitivity Assessment from a fishing gear type. The data consists of output generated for nine different gear types - King Scallop Dredging, Queen Scallop Dredging, Mussel Seed Dredging, Light Otter Trawling, Bottom Set Nets, Potting, Sea Angling and Casual and Professional Hand Gathering.
Due to it's nature as a pilot project NRW no longer makes this data routinely available, alternative fisheries related data may be available on the Welsh Government Marine Planning Portal.

Confidence is recorded as Low, Moderate or High, or Unknown where a particular habitat has not been assigned a Sensitivity to a fishing type. FishMap Mon was undertaken as a pilot project giving a general indication of where a limited amount of fishing activity is thought to have occurred at a given time, and its expected impact on marine habitats. This fishing effort dataset was a snap shot in time and may not be representative of current fishing practices in the study area or the rest of Wales. There is a low level of confidence in the data and trail methodology.
