The purpose of this data capture was to report on the current and potential distribution, and breeding success of the otter within the Gwyrfai catchment and Dyfi Estuary area; identify and map actual and potential breeding habitat and feeding ponds and ditches; and, to produce performance indicators to contribute to former Countryside Council for Wales (CCW's) reporting of the condition and conservation status of the otter.
