The monitoring programme comprised invertebrate surveys focusing on two excavated slack sites further inland, together with an adjacent control site. The dataset contains 12,838 individual invertebrate records representing 298 species. The aim of the study was to assess, through pitfall trapping, the effects of excavating surface vegetation from two dune slacks and the dunes bordering their north-eastern ends on selected dune invertebrate species. Some voucher specimens were retained and are held in the authors' private collections.
