Phase 2 Woodland Survey of Carmarthenshire and Llanelli Woodlands (1994 - 2005)

This is a dataset containing detailed Phase 2 survey data from over 4607 observations in woodlands of conservation interest in across Carmarthenshire and Llanelli woodlands. One of the major strategic initiatives of Countryside Council for Wales. The purpose of this work was to improve the overall knowledge of Welsh woodland communities, to provide consistent community descriptions across the woodland SSSI series as fundamental site-support information and to assess SSSI status of new sites.

Datganiad: Dataset is a collation of CCW commissioned NVC surveys. It is one of a series of major Phase 2 habitat surveys, including in-house and commissioned surveys covering lowland grassland, saltmarsh, lowland peatland and lowland heathland. The standard woodland NVC survey methodology was used. Data collected by trained personnel, digitised by contractors, validated by CCW Knowledge Management Group, corrections made by contractors, validated again by CCW Knowledge Management Group, corrections made in-house in conjunction with Woodland Ecologist.
