The European Mining Waste Directive (2006/21/EC) requires Member States to create an inventory of closed or abandoned mine waste facilities causing serious environmental impacts, and to make this inventory available to the public. A waste facility means any area designated for the accumulation or deposit of extractive waste.

Yn unol â'r Gyfarwyddeb Gwastraff Mwyngloddio Ewropeaidd (2006/21/EC) mae'n ofynnol i aelod wladwriaethau greu rhestr o'r cyfleusterau gwastraff mwyngloddio sydd wedi cau neu wedi'u gadael yn wag ac sy'n achosi effeithiau amgylcheddol difrifol, ac i sicrhau bod y rhestr hon ar gael i'r cyhoedd. Mae cyfleusterau gwastraff yn golygu unrhyw ardal a ddynodwyd ar gyfer crynhoi neu ollwng gwastraff echdynnol.
