Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Seas (RoFRS)
This is a national assessment of flood risk for Wales produced using local expertise. The dataset shows the chance of flooding from rivers and/or the sea, based on cells of 50 m. Each cell is allocated one of four flood risk categories, taking into account flood defences and their condition. No more detailed resolution is provided. An online Flood Risk Map Browser is available via the NRW website.

Spatial dataset with the floodplain split into 50m x 50m cells and each allocated one of four flood risk likelihood categories. - High: each year, there is a chance of flooding of greater than 1 in 30 (3.3 percent). - Medium: each year, there is a chance of flooding of between 1 in 30 (3.3 percent) and 1 in 100 (1 percent). - Low: each year, there is a chance of flooding of between 1 in 100 (1 percent) and 1 in 1000 (0.1 percent). - Very Low: each year, there is a chance of flooding of less than 1 in 1000 (0.1 percent). Cells where the likelihood of flooding is greater than or equal to 1 in 75 (1.3 percent) each year are identified. Each cell has a suitability rating to show at what scale it is generally appropriate to use the data to assess flood risk, and how suitable the data is for a range of different uses. If data is displayed in map form to others it should be shown with a maximum zoom scale of 1:10,000 and that base mapping of 1:25,000 is used to give context. Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Seas (RoFRS) results are indicative of the scale and distribution of the likelihood of flooding and therefore we advise that viewing at more detailed scales may not be appropriate. - Because of the way they have been produced and the fact that they are indicative, the maps are not appropriate to act as the sole evidence for any specific planning or regulatory decision or assessment of risk in relation to flooding at any scale without further supporting studies or evidence. - This data is not raw, factual or measured. It comprises of estimated or modelled results showing expected outcomes based on the data available to us.
