Roedd RQOau yn cael eu rhoi i afonydd mawr (yn ddibynnol ar lif yr afon). Roedd samplau cemegol yn cael eu cymryd 12 gwaith y flwyddyn. Byddai unrhyw fethiannau yn ansawdd yr afon, eu rhesymau a'r gweithrediadau i'w rhoi ar waith, yn cael eu storio mewn tablau gwahanol.
