Afon Teifi and Afon Eden Condition Assessment (2016)
River Habitat Survey (RHS) was carried out in 2016 at 27 sample sites on the Afon Teifi and six sample sites on the Afon Eden. The data was collected to feed into condition assessment of the Afon Teifi and Afon Eden according to Common Standards Monitoring guidance for Rivers for the following physical river habitat quality attributes: Channel planform, Habitat Modification Score, Bank vegetation naturalness, Riparian zone vegetation naturalness, Large woody debris, In-channel structures, Fine sediment, Siltation, Negative indicators: alien/locally absent. species

NRW is responsible for monitoring the condition of the river habitat quality on Special Area of Conservation (SAC) rivers designated for the Ranunculion feature; more formally known as “Water courses of plain to montane levels with the Ranunculion fluitantis and Callitricho-Batrachion vegetation” (EU habitat code 3260). NRW is required to evaluate the conservation status of this river habitat. The Common Standards Monitoring (CSM) guidance (JNCC, 2016) sets out eight river habitat quality assessment attributes for the condition of this SAC feature. Specific details for RHS survey methods are detailed in the River Habitat Survey Manual (EA, 2003).
