The dataset contains 101 GIS layer files describing habitat occurrence and extent at both detailed and 10 km grid scales, covering coastal, freshwater, heathland, grassland, mire, rock, cave and woodland habitats. The information was derived from habitat surveys, existing evidence sources, relevant technical documentation, and third-party datasets, and was used to inform the 2018 assessment of conservation status and distribution for designated habitat types.
