Surveys undertaken at Cors Erddreiniog SSSI in 2016 and at Cors Geirch SSSI in 2016 and 2017 failed to locate the species, raising concerns that it may have been lost from both sites. However, given the small size of the snail and the possibility that low-density populations may be easily overlooked, further surveys were undertaken in October 2019 to reassess its status. Survey effort focused on areas of potentially suitable habitat at both sites, including a horse-grazed Carex lawn within Cors Erddreiniog National Nature Reserve where the species had previously been recorded, and a series of base-rich flushes. The survey aimed to determine whether Vertigo geyeri remains present and to improve understanding of its current distribution within these important wetland habitats.
