The Scaly Cricket (Pseudomogoplistes vicentae) is known in Wales only from Dale and South Marloes Coast SSSI, where it was first recorded in 1999 and subsequently surveyed in 2006. A further survey undertaken in 2020 assessed the current status and distribution of the species within its Welsh range. Suitable habitat was identified along approximately 262 metres of coastline at Marloes Sands and 40 metres at West Dale Bay. A total of 287 adult and nymph Scaly Crickets was recorded, confirming the presence of breeding populations at both locations. However, the species was recorded from only four monitoring plots at Marloes Sands, and suitable habitat was present in just six plots, highlighting the restricted nature of its distribution within the site.

Monitoring was undertaken in September 2020 at the known Scaly Cricket (Pseudomogoplistes vicentae) locations at Marloes Sands and West Dale Bay within Dale and South Marloes Coast SSSI. Survey work comprised hand-searching and stone-turning within suitable coastal habitat, with counts made of both adult and nymph individuals. Monitoring covered approximately 2 km of coastline at Marloes Sands and 0.25 km at West Dale Bay. Records were used to assess the distribution, abundance and breeding status of the species and to identify the extent of suitable habitat present at each site.
