NRW’s water quality archive provides data from samples collected around Wales, including coastal, estuary, rivers, lakes, ponds, canals, sewage discharges, trade discharges, pollution investigation points and waste sites.


NRW holds data goes back to 1962 whereas the open data product contains data from 2000 onwards. The open data product is extracted from NRW’s Water Quality database (KiWQM) and updated every month.


Some field measurements are taken in situ at the sampling station, whereas some samples are analysed in laboratories to measure aspects of the water quality. Once samples are taken, they must be processed and verified before they are added to the water quality archive. Therefore, there is a delay between samples being taken and the data being made available. Data may also be subject to change after publication, but the archive will be updated each month to include corrections.

Mae archif ansawdd dŵr CNC yn cadw data o samplau a gasglwyd ledled Cymru, gan gynnwys data arfordirol, data o aberoedd, afonydd, llynnoedd, pyllau a chamlesi, gollyngiadau carthffosiaeth a masnachol, mannau archwilio llygredd, a safleoedd gwastraff.


Cymerir mesuriadau maes yn y man a'r lle yn yr orsaf samplu, ond dadansoddir y rhan fwyaf o baramedrau mewn labordai i fesur agweddau ar ansawdd dŵr. Unwaith y bydd samplau wedi'u dadansoddi, rhaid i'r canlyniadau gael eu prosesu a'u gwirio cyn eu hychwanegu at yr archif ansawdd dŵr. Felly, mae oedi rhwng cymryd samplau a sicrhau bod y data ar gael. Gall data hefyd newid ar ôl ei gyhoeddi, ond bydd yr archif yn cael ei ddiweddaru bob mis i gynnwys cywiriadau.


Mae archif ansawdd dŵr CNC yn set ddata fawr sy’n cynnwys rhywfaint o ddata a allai fod yn sensitif ac felly mae rhywfaint o wybodaeth wedi’i golygu. Mae'r prif faterion sensitif yn ymwneud â dŵr daear, cyflenwadau dŵr yfed, data trydydd parti a samplau ymchwilio.
