Daw'r data a ddefnyddiwyd i adeiladu'r haen GIS hon o leoliadau perthnasol sy'n bodoli eisoes lle cedwir data ac mae wedi'i gyfuno i un lleoliad ar ffurf ESRI. Ni chynhaliwyd unrhyw arolygon newydd i'w cynnwys yn y set ddata hon. Roedd y dulliau a ddefnyddiwyd i gasglu’r cofnodion o rywogaethau estron morol yn amrywio ac yn cynnwys rhywogaethau estron o arolygon penodol i gofnodion ad-hoc. Defnyddiwyd rhestr o rywogaethau estron y cytunwyd arnynt fel sail ar gyfer dethol cofnodion rhywogaethau. Defnyddiwyd gwahanol ddulliau i dynnu cofnodion o'r gwahanol ffynonellau ond cafodd rhestr o rywogaethau ei llunio yn Excel a'i mewnforio i ArcGIS i'w hadolygu. Ychwanegwyd meysydd ychwanegol, gan gynnwys un ar gyfer statws y rhywogaethau ar Restr Cymru o Rywogaethau Estron Goresgynnol y Môr y dylid rhoi blaenoriaeth i’w monitro a chadw golwg arnynt. The methods used to collect the marine non-native species records varied and contained non-natives from specific surveys to ad-hoc records. A list of agreed non-native species was used as a basis on which to extract species records. Different methods were used to extract records from the different sources but a list of species was captured in Excel and imported into ArcGIS for review. Additional fields were added, including one for the species status on the Wales marine INNS Marine Invasive Non-native Species Priority Monitoring and Surveillance List for Wales A process was undertaken to remove any duplicate records which were noted.
