The survey began with Strava Heat Maps and other user driven websites and was validated on site. It looks at the busiest trails and sites and covers most, but certainly not all of the forests or all of the trails. It represents the 2021/2 snapshot. Data includes trail routes (line data) and hazard points (point data) associated with a set of photographs stored on the DMS. Data regarding rider numbers was manually written down trail by trail. Field capture using a Garmin GPS device and imported into Google Earth. Each individual section then digitised separately Rider numbers were written down from Strava.
