Nodau’r prosiect oedd ail-greu symudiad naturiol yn y twyni tywod ac adfywio cynefinoedd sy’n gartref i rai o’n mathau prinnaf o fywyd gwyllt. Comisiynodd prosiect Twyni Byw arolwg LiDAR o ardaloedd twyni tywod cyn ac ar ôl cwblhau’r gwaith adfer ar raddfa fawr. Y nod oedd llunio darlun cywir a chyfoes o’r llinell sylfaen ar gyfer morffoleg y twyni a phennu newidiadau geomorffolegol a symudiad y tywod oddi wrth ôl troed yr ymyriadau. Pennodd Twyni Byw y byddai arolygon LiDAR o’r awyr yn cael eu cynnal ar draws ardal gyfan y 10 safle ar Arfordir Cymru, a oedd wedi’u rhannu rhwng pedair Ardal Cadwraeth Arbennig (ACA). Gwnaed arolygon llinell sylfaen drwy hedfan dros safleoedd y prosiect rhwng mis Gorffennaf 2019 a mis Ionawr 2020 gan gasglu data LiDAR yn llwyddiannus ar wyth pwynt y metr a chyda’r cywirdeb canlynol: RMSE fertigol: 10cm, RMSE llorweddol: 35cm.
