The underlying data was collected as a result of a series of commissions from Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to Afonydd Cymru (AC) to undertake river habitat surveys to identify riverine habitat pressures on salmon and sea trout. The location comprising of either discrete points or upstream and downstream extents. Subsequently AC and the Welsh rivers trusts have received grant funding (Inland Fisheries Habitat Restoration Grants, funded via the NaCE programme) from NRW to address these pressures, resulting in further data on measures undertaken, and additional pressures being identified. The data is collated by AC with an iterative quality assurance process between NRW, AC and the individual trusts being applied.
