The purpose of this data capture is to service bryophyte conservation by documenting detailed records of threatened species, and tracking the populations of these species through time. It is a 'live' database feeding specialist information to UKBAP Lead Partners and conservation agencies, and to feed information about bryophyte conservation programmes to bryologists. Some biological records have more precise location information than others. Often they are recorded using national grid references, which identify which 10km, 2km, 1km or 100m square they occur in. An export of Welsh data was created which was added to the original Welsh dataset and made into a MapInfo table. This now contains numerous duplicates. The most up to date and accurate data is available to download via the British Bryological Society, who publish this data on the NBN Gateway. This dataset includes all records provided by Alan Hale from the Threatened Bryophytes in Wales dataset.
