This is a spatial dataset containing a collation of all mapped sand dune habitats in Wales. Over 40 NVC Phase 2 surveys were carried out on sand dunes across Wales. This dataset is a collation of data from these surveys grouped together for mobilisation purposes and to provide information on a Wales-wide scale. One of the major strategic initiatives of the former Countryside Council for Wales (CCW). The purpose of this data capture was to help define the sand dune vegetation resource of Wales. The surveys were initiated in the late 1980's and continued until the mid '90's. Digitisation of the maps took place in 2004.

Cynhaliwyd dros 40 o arolygon Dosbarthiad Llystyfiant Cenedlaethol Cyfnod 2 ar dwyni tywod ledled Cymru. Casgliad o ddata o'r arolygon hyn yw'r set ddata hon, wedi'u cyfuno at ddibenion symudiadau ac i ddarparu gwybodaeth ar raddfa Cymru gyfan. Diben y data hwn a gasglwyd oedd helpu i ddiffinio adnoddau llystyfiant twyni tywod Cymru. Gall cyfansoddiad cynefinoedd newid dros amser o ganlyniad i dueddiadau olynol, rheolaeth tir neu hyd yn oed ddatblygiadau arfaethedig. Felly, ni ellir bod yn sicr bod math o lystyfiant neu rywogaeth yn parhau i fodoli am ei fod wedi'i gofnodi yn y data digidol.
