SEA 6 Inshore Sector Geophysical Report Summer 2004 OSIRIS Project (3rd Party Data)
The region encompassed by the strategic environmental assessment No. 6 (SEA 6) represents the central Irish Sea, with specific focus given to the areas of Liverpool Bay and Tremadog Bay. At the onset of the contract, the broad aim of the survey was to acquire data representative of the geology, bathymetry and ecology of Tremadog Bay and surrounding areas. Osiris Projects had been contracted by Geotek Ltd, on behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), to undertake a programme of shallow marine survey work as part of the SEA 6 initiative. This work was predominantly focussed on the Tremadog bay area of the Irish Sea as part of the inshore sector of the SEA 6 region. Offshore Survey and Engineering (OSAE) performed survey work in the offshore sector of the SEA 6 region. The scope of the work performed by Osiris Projects as part of the SEA 6 inshore sector included the following elements: - Geophysical survey work using side scan sonar and sub-bottom profiler - Hydrographic survey work using swathe bathymetry and single beam bathymetry - Benthic survey work, including grab sampling and photographic imagery

The survey programme commenced on the 29th August 2004 and was completed on the 10th September 2004. The survey vessel went to the following sites: Holden's Reef, Tremadog Bay, Muddy Hollow, Mochras Moraine, Llanbedrog, Porth Dinllaen, Point Lynas and Constable Bank. Osiris Projects own dedicated survey vessel ‘Lia’ was used throughout survey operations. The vessel is a 15m aluminium catamaran with a draft of 1m. This enables the vessel to work in extremely shallow water.
