Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon Terrestrial Environmental Change Network (ECN) Site - Chemical Data
This dataset is a collation of the chemical data collected at the Environmental Change Network (ECN) terrestrial site - Yr Wyddfa. The 700ha site incorporates the summit of Yr Wyddfa and includes three additional summits over 800 m, it also includes 5 lakes. Measurements taken for chemistry include atmospheric chemistry and precipitation chemistry. As well as the ECN monitoring protocols, other data collected at the site includes the results of ammonia monitoring taking place at Dyffryn Mymbyr, and monitoring of Ozone carried out at Marchlyn Mawr. The purpose of this data capture is to use the observed changes in chemical variables to indicate the possible causes and consequences of environmental change in the terrestrial environment.

Atmospheric chemistry: Passive diffusion tubes are left out for a two-week period in order to measure the concentration of Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2). Precipitation chemistry: 14 chemical variables are analysed weekly including pH, conductivity, concentrations of Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Aluminium etc.The ECN data is sent to CEH Merlewood where it is checked and transferred into a centralised database managed by the ECN Central Coordinating Unit (CCU) incorporating data from all ECN sites across the UK. The ammonia data contributes to the UK Ammonia Monitoring Network and the results of the Ozone monitoring are linked to Welsh Air Quality Forum.
