Pectenogammarus planicrurus is the only amphipod that is a permanent resident of shingle beaches. The species was first recorded on the steep gravel and pebble beach fronting the promenade at Pwllheli during CCW Phase 1 surveys in 1996. This dataset contains the results of monitoring undertaken in 2008 to confirm the continued presence and assess the status of this scarce amphipod species at Pwllheli. The survey forms part of an annual monitoring programme established to track the population of P. planicrurus within the Pen Llŷn a'r Sarnau SAC and to provide continuity with previous surveys undertaken since 2004.

The methods were consistent with previous monitoring visits to enable assessment of the species' continued presence and status.
