Hedgerow Database for Angelsey North Wales
The Hedgerow Database contains data from hedgerow surveys undertaken on Anglesey looking at the structure and composition of the hedgerows.
In 2002 a Hedgerow Survey Handbook was produced setting a standard procedure for local hedgerow surveys in the UK. It was proposed that a series of hedgerow surveys were to be undertaken in Wales using this standard procedure however as yet only the Anglesey survey has taken place due to funding constraints and therefore the database only currently contains data from this one survey.
The purpose of this data capture was to build up a detailed body of information on the current status of hedgerows across the UK thus enabling appropriate action to be taken to safeguard the most important hedgerows, and to monitor any changes in the quality and quantity of the hedgerow network over time.

A hedgerow survey method has been developed under a research contract for Countryside Council For Wales (CCW) producing a clearly defined system of data collection covering the setting of the hedge, associated features, its structure, and woody and ground flora components. The complete methodology guidance can be found in the handbook (see related titles below).
