Arolygon Hydroacwstig a Thrawsleoli Gwyniaid Llyn Tegid 2003
The purpose of this project was to develop a generic whitefish sampling protocol suitable for Llyn Tegid and to assess the condition of the Gwyniad population.
A population survey of Gwyniad was recommended following unsuccessful attempts to establish a refuge population in 2003. The project adapted a generic protocol for assessing whitefish (Coregonus albula and Coregonus lavaretus) populations, developed by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), for use with the Gwyniad population of Llyn Tegid. The survey was undertaken in July 2003 and included measurements of oxygen and temperature profiles, as well as Secchi depth readings.
The protocol involved hydroacoustic surveying and limited gill netting. This dataset contains the results of the gill netting survey only.

A hydroacoustic survey was conducted using a discrete parallel transect design and a BioSonics DT6000 echo sounder.
Gill netting was undertaken using both benthic and pelagic versions of the Norden survey gill net. Nets were deployed at three inshore sites, together with both a benthic and a pelagic net at offshore locations.
Oxygen and temperature profiles were recorded at a single location, and Secchi disc readings were taken at the same site.
