Nodweddion Cynefinoedd Daearyddol Erthygl 17
This dataset comprises point and polygon spatial datasets produced to support Article 17 Habitats Directive reporting for 2018. The data represent the distribution and extent of a wide range of Annex I habitat types occurring in Wales and have been compiled to meet the reporting standards and requirements of Article 17 of the Habitats Directive. The dataset contains 101 GIS layer files describing habitat occurrence and extent at both detailed and 10 km grid scales, covering coastal, freshwater, heathland, grassland, mire, rock, cave and woodland habitats. The information was derived from habitat surveys, existing evidence sources, relevant technical documentation, and third-party datasets, and was used to inform the 2018 assessment of conservation status and distribution for designated habitat types.

The dataset was compiled for the 2018 Article 17 reporting cycle under the Habitats Directive. Spatial data were assembled from a combination of field survey information, existing habitat inventories, third-party datasets, and reference documentation relevant to each habitat type. Habitat distribution and extent were digitised, reviewed and attributed in accordance with the reporting standards specified for Article 17 assessments.
The resulting dataset comprises 101 GIS layer files representing the distribution and/or extent of Annex I habitat types within Wales. Habitat layers were produced as point and polygon datasets and, where required for reporting purposes, summarised at a 10 km grid resolution. The final layers were quality checked and formatted for use in the preparation of Article 17 conservation status assessments and reporting submissions for 2018.
