Unofficial Mountain Bike Trails (2021/22 Snapshot)
This 'Wild MTB trails' data was collected by contractors and covers NRW managed land. The survey began with Strava Heat Maps and other user driven websites and was validated on site. It looks at the busiest trails and sites and covers most, but certainly not all of the forests or all of the trails. It represents the 2021/2 snapshot. Data includes trail routes (line data) and hazard points (point data) associated with a set of photographs stored on the DMS. Data regarding rider numbers was manually written down trail by trail. THIS DATA IS FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY.

This data is indicative only, was collected in 2021/22 and should be ground truthed if forest operations are about to take place in the area cover by the trails. Data captured via one of three methods: 1. Field survey using a Garmin Edge 25 GPS with accuracy +/- 3m. GPS was started and stopped at the beginning / end of each trail section 2. Section traced on an OS map layer due to capture error in the field. The resolution will be more coarse on these sections, but the overall accuracy will still be roughly +/- 10m. 3. Field capture using a Garmin GPS device and imported into Google Earth. Each individual section then digitised separately Rider numbers were written down from Strava.
