2020 NRW Skomer MCZ Benthic Survey
Grab sampling surveys are conducted within the Skomer Marine Conservation Zone approximately every 3-4 years since 1993.
Since 2009 twelve sites have been re-visited and sampled on each survey. Two samples are collected at each site for infaunal analysis, and one sample obtained for particle size analysis (PSA). The benthic samples are collected using a 0.1m2 Day Grab and sieved with a .5mm sieve.

Sediment samples are collected using a 0.1m2 Day Grab. Two samples are collected at each site for infaunal analysis and sieved with a 0.5mm sieve, and one additional sample is obtained for particle size analysis (PSA).
In 2020 the benthic samples were sent to Thomson Environmental Consultants for infauna abundance and biomass analysis, and the PSA samples were analysed by the NRW laboratory.
